Frequently Asked Questions
The Classic Porto de Galinhas tour typically includes round-trip transportation from select hotels in Recife/Boa Viagem, air-conditioned tourist transport, and a certified Spanish/Portuguese-speaking guide. The typical itinerary includes: morning departure, a 1- to 1.5-hour drive to the beaches of Pernambuco, a stroll through downtown Porto de Galinhas, free time for swimming and photos, and a stop at a beach such as Muro Alto or Pontal de Maracaípe. An optional jangada (traditional raft) trip to the natural pools is available (tide availability). Lunch is not usually included. Estimated duration: full day, 8–10 hours, with return in the afternoon.
The price of the Porto de Galinhas excursion varies depending on the season, pick-up point, and type of tour (regular or private). It usually includes transportation and a guide. Not included are: lunch, drinks, a jangada (traditional raft) ride to the natural pools, snorkeling equipment, photos, locker rental, local/environmental taxes, and tips. Prices are updated when booking online and may change during holidays and periods of high demand. Standard payment methods are accepted (credit card and cash in Brazilian reais). Change and cancellation policies are generally flexible if requested in advance; please check conditions and any applicable no-show fees. Advance booking is recommended.
The natural pool experience depends on the tide. The best time is at low tide (maré baixa), when natural aquariums form, ideal for snorkeling and fish watching. The jangada (traditional raft) tour operates subject to sea conditions and safety on the day; it may be affected by waves or rain. The tour operates year-round, in a tropical climate: rain is more frequent between April and July; better visibility and calmer seas are usually found during the dry season. Check the tide tables for your desired day and coordinate the schedule with the operator to maximize your experience. Wear sunscreen and non-slip shoes.
This excursion is suitable for families, couples, and senior travelers. It doesn't require strenuous physical activity, although it involves walking on sand in the sun. Transportation is provided by a tourist vehicle; child seats are available upon request. The jangada ride involves boarding and disembarking a simple raft; people with reduced mobility, pregnant women, or those with back problems should assess sea conditions and follow the guide's instructions. Life jackets and safety instructions are provided by the rafters. Strollers and wheelchairs have limited accessibility on the sand. Travel insurance is recommended, and special needs should be communicated when booking.
To fully enjoy this beach tour, bring: a swimsuit, towel, lightweight quick-drying clothing, hat, sunglasses, sandals or water shoes, water-resistant sunscreen, insect repellent, and a reusable water bottle. Add a waterproof case for your phone/camera and, if desired, a snorkel mask. Have cash in Brazilian reais for optional expenses (jangada, drinks, snacks, lockers, tips), as some businesses do not accept cards. Bring your ID and confirmed reservation. Avoid taking valuables to the beach. Check the tide for the day and confirm the pickup time. Stay hydrated, respect marine life, and follow the guide's instructions.
